How does a family photography session work?
Every photo session can be shaped around the experience you want to have in the Eternal city. The location, duration, and style of the session can all be chosen according to your plans. Some families prefer iconic places such as the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, or St. Peter’s Square. Others prefer the quieter atmosphere of Villa Borghese, Trastevere, or the historic streets around the city centre.

Things to do in Rome for families!
The city offers plenty of places that work beautifully for a family photography session. The Colosseum, Vatican area, Villa Borghese, Trevi Fountain, and Trastevere are among the locations that can be incorporated into a photo walk. A session can also be planned around what the family had planned to do in Rome as their itinerary, making the photography part of the experience rather than a separate activity. What can you expect from the photoshoot?

Do you have any experience in photographing children?
We do! Some of us are both fathers and photographers and are accustomed to taking pictures of kids and know the importance of capturing the moment! So let’s make it fun!
What happens if it rains?
Should rain be in the forecast we can reschedule to a mutually agreeable date and time. Apart from a rainy day, shooting when it is just cloudy with no rain does have advantages. An overcast day can bring out nice contrasted pictures with smooth evenly distributed light.
What are the payment options
Payment is split up by 30% deposit payment at the moment of booking through our website form either by PayPal or Stripe which is direct credit card debit. This allows you to book a date and a time slot for you photography session. The remaining balance can be paid either in EURO cash or by credit card on the day of the session +6% studio payment transfer fees.
How will I receive the photos?
Photos can be downloaded after editing and post production on our cloud servers. After about a month or earlier, you will receive a download link by email where you will be able to download all the high and low resolution images including all printing rights. You can include a faster delivery option by selection the expedient image delivery during the reservation phase. Once pictures are loaded on the server they will be available for about 2 weeks after which the server normally removes the files from the server.
Does the black and white conversion also come with color pictures?
Yes, when you select the black and white option you will receive pictures in both color and b&w. Essentially including black & white is like an add on to the color image delivery.
Are pictures touched up?
Yes pictures undergo our exclusive post production processing. Which includes framing improvements, exposure, color and contrast adjustments. Fixing the white balance if necessary. Optimizing image sharpness. Trying to make the photos look their best. It is out of the scope of our post production processing altering a person’s traits or removing or adding objects from the picture frame.
What time is best?
The best time to photograph families depends largely on the location. It’s important to consider how crowded the area gets and how sunlight falls there. Shooting at sunset works beautifully for landscapes, but it’s not always ideal for lifestyle photos or group portraits. Sunset light can create a moody effect, but it can also make images appear too dark. We usually find that the golden hour, about one to two hours before sundown, offers the most flattering light.
Early morning is another good option. Which means fewer people around and a quieter atmosphere. However, in a city like Rome—surrounded by buildings, tall trees, and hills—the early light isn’t always perfect. To get the best results, aim to shoot between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m., striking a balance between soft light and good illumination.
Where else do you shoot families in Italy?
Besides the capital of Italy we photograph families in Venice, Florence and throughout Tuscany as well as the Amalfi coast, Positano and Sorrento.
How long will the delivery take?
We work on photos on a first in first out basis. So in the summertime this can be as long as a month. If you wish to speed up the process you can select the expedient image delivery option. Which shortens the delivery time to a 2 week maximum wait although we often are able to complete production within a week.
Who is going to take our pictures?
Our photography studio includes two associated photographers in Rome. Andrea Matone, the founder, remains an active photographer and is one of the two professionals working with the studio. The photographer is assigned according to availability and scheduling. Andrea personally continues to photograph family sessions as well as other types of photography in Rome.
